Chen Su Qiao’s Growth Report
Chen Su Qiao, female, was abandoned by the roadside of ChenGui road near Xianyun Company on September 13, 2004. She was found and picked up by Yang Haijun, a traffic police from No. 1 Team of No. 1 Brigade of Chenzhou Traffic Police. When she was found, she wore white print cotton top and pants, a green print stomach cover and a suit of light yellow woolen sweater and pants. She was wrapped in a used print infant quit; she had with her a red birth note, a milk bottle, a packet of powdered milk and four suits of clothes. After the case was reported to Beihu Police Station of Chenzhou City, the police made their efforts to locate the infant’s parents. They failed to find them and then sent her to our Institute for foster care. She has been in our Institute since.
Upon her arrival, our doctor gave her a physical examination; it was reported that she had good physical development. She had fair skin and thick black hair. Her umbilical cord had come off, and she was a normal child. Her vital statistics were as follows:
Height – 53 cm Weight – 4.4 kg Head Size – 37 cm Chest Size – 36cm Foot Length – 7.5 cm
The date of her birth written on her birth note was based on Chinese lunar calendar; we changed it into correspondent date on solar calendar- it was August 21, 2004. Our staff named her Chen Su Qiao. ‘Chen’, her last name, was after the first character of the city where she was found. “Su Qiao” carries the meaning that we wished her brightness and smartness.
Since she came to our Institute, Su Qiao is growing healthily with the good care of the caretakers and Grandmothers in ‘Half the Sky’ Program. After a period of time, she was used to the environment of our Institute. She has followed a good daily routine. But she did not want to sleep on bed, wanting either somebody to hold her while walking or to lie in a rocking chair.
At 2 months old, Su Qiao had reaction to the ringing of a bell. She turned her head along with the moving ringing bell or the moving light. When lying on her stomach, she was able to lift her head. She smiled at you if you felt her face or amused her. She cried whenever her diaper was wet. After she ate her food, she fell asleep after quietly lying by herself for a while
At 3 months old, she showed a special interest in the objects with bright colors. She always focused her eyes on the bright colored- toys when an adult held one to amuse her. She shook the bell when someone put it in her hand. When she was taken outdoors, she kept looking here and there. She frequently sucked her hand. She responded with ‘ooh, ooh’ sound if someone was talking to her.
Currently she is 4 months old, she frequently plays with her hands. She raises her hands to her eyes level and watches them with interest. She is very joyful and chuckles when someone amuses her. She smiles a lot. On hearing her name, she looks and smiles at the person who uses her name. She has grown into an adorable little girl. She constantly makes the sound ‘Baba’ every day.
She gets up at 6:30 am and goes to bed at about 6:00 pm. She takes two one-hour naps every day, in the morning and in the afternoon. She has 6 meals a day: at 5:30 am, 8:00 am, 11:00 am, 3:00 pm, 6:00 pm and 11:00 pm. She eats the mixture made from powdered milk, infant rice cake and bean flour; each time she consumes 160 milliliters of her food. At 8:00 am, she eats steamed eggs or minced meat noodles. At 9:30 am, she eats fruit sauce. She has her bowel movements once or twice a day. She wears diaper.
She loves to be taken to outdoors. Her favorite toys are those with sounds.
According to the needs of her growth, she is provided with mineral supplements, such as iron and calcium, and with multi- vitamins. She is update on all her immunization based on the required Vaccine Plan.
Su Qiao is a very lively and lovely little angel.
